A flight from Europe to Costa Rica takes approximately 12 hours.
Several times a week, there are direct flights from Europe via Amsterdam (Schiphol), Paris (Charles de Gaulle), Madrid, Zurich, and in the high season, via London.
We are located in the southwest, on the Pacific side, about 8 km from the Golfo Dulce. From the capital, after your international flight, you can take a domestic flight. Then you will be in Golfito in about 40 minutes, where there is a small airport. We will pick you up there.
Domestic flights can be booked through Sansa Airlines. Please note that the luggage weight is limited to 15 or 20 kg. These small planes have seating for about 20 passengers. A ride on one of these planes is definitely worth it; in clear weather, you get a spectacular view of the country.
You can also choose to rent a car and drive south. This route runs largely along the coast, so you can see beautiful sights along the way. Keep in mind that the drive south can take approximately 5 to 6 hours, depending on traffic.
Parking is available on our premises.

Costa Rica has two seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. Locally, they are called “winter” and “summer,” but they are not like the winters we know.
During the day, it is always at least 25°C (77°F). The main difference is that during “winter” you have a higher chance of rain or a tropical storm. But there is no need to worry about a tropical storm. On our side (the Pacific coast), it usually just means rain and slightly stronger winds than usual. We never experience hurricanes here.
A typical day in the rainy season starts sunny and then in the afternoon may be interrupted by a rain shower. However, there can also be days with no rain at all—it’s unpredictable.
The rainy season begins around mid-April and ends in November. It is definitely worth visiting Costa Rica during this season. For example, August is the peak month for spotting whales in the bay. They come to give birth in the calm waters of the bay during that time.
And if you do get caught in a heavy shower or thunderstorm, it’s the perfect opportunity to relax somewhere with a drink, enjoying local beer or a delicious cocktail.
The high season runs from November through March to mid-April. During this time, there is much less chance of rain, and it is naturally warmer. It also has its charm to celebrate Christmas and New Year in a bikini under the sun instead of bundled up in a thick winter coat and surrounded by ice!
About 10 km from our B&B is Golfito Hospital, and just around the corner, 200 meters away, is a modern first aid station.
The drinking water here is safe; we drink it ourselves and have never had any issues.
And what is also very important: no vaccinations are required to visit Costa Rica!
The only thing to watch out for are pesky mosquitoes if you sit outside in the evening. But there are plenty of remedies available to minimize the nuisance.
We hope to welcome you soon to our own little piece of paradise!
